There is much more than just "Friday fish fry" to the Birmingham name. The Sevastopol Historical Society and Brad Birmingham are pleased to present "Rich Family Traditions" beginning at 2 p.m. May 19 at the town hall.

Brad will review his family history from 1833 to the present, providing background on the Long, Thenell, Gmach, Geitner and Birmingham families, all having played an integral role in various Door County businesses and endeavors. There will also be historic family and other Door County memorabilia on display.

The Sevastopol Town Hall is at 4528 Wisconsin 57, just north of Sturgeon Bay. The program is free, open to everyone and refreshments will be served. Questions, call Linda Wait at (920) 746-1230.

Baseball is back

Attention, baseball enthusiasts! The Door County Baseball League kicks off this Sunday with the Institute Cubs playing West Jacksonport Ports. First pitch is at 1:30 p.m. at the Sevastopol Town Park in Institute. The concession stand will be open serving cold drinks, hot dogs and snacks.

Sunday's game will be dedicated to the memory of Marge Annis Wild, who was an avid fan of the Cubs ball team and watched them play every Sunday. Marge even helped gather donations for one of the scoreboards at the town park back in the 1990s. Marge passed away earlier this year and will be sadly missed in the grandstand.

Remember Mother

Be it with bouquets, buffets, chocolates, hugs or kisses, don't forget to remember Mom on Sunday. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.
