D.C. Everest's Rachel Bauman comes to the plate during a recent Evergreens' softball game, and the lefthander stands in the back third of the batters box, eyeing the opposing pitcher and waits for the pitch to be delivered.

As the pitcher goes through her windup and and delivers the ball toward the plate, Bauman takes a few steps forward in the box - left foot over right - and with a quick chopping swing at the top half of the ball drives the pitch into the dirt towards the left side of the infield.
