A Wisconsin Rapids business was one of nine honored at the 10th annual Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award banquet held Thursday, organizers of the event announced Friday.

Ron's Refrigeration & Air Conditioning won the grand prize in the small business category, according to a news release from Smith & Gesteland, a Madison-based accounting and business consulting firm that established the awards.

A panel of judges selected winners from company-submitted nominations, according to the news release. Large companies employ more than 100 people, medium companies have 50 to 99 employees and small companies employ fewer than 50.
