May 12, 1949 - Bus service to beach sought: Bus service for Bay Beach on afternoons during the summer season would enable more youngsters to go to the beach for recreation, the board of park commissioners decided at its May meeting.

For this reason, the board will request the Wisconsin Public Service corporation to provide afternoon service. It is hoped to have negotiations with the utility completed prior to official opening of the beach later this month.

The beach program for the summer has been expanded to provide more rides for youths at a price they can afford to pay. This was brought out in discussions with Clarence Edges, who received the contract for operating the park this year. Among the devices in operation will be a kiddy merry-go-round with movable horses. Edges is also negotiating for a miniature railroad, he told the board.
