UWSP baseball captures WIAC championship

The UW-Stevens Point baseball team had some breathing room entering Sunday's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship's final day, but that quickly faded after UW-La Crosse forced a winner-take-all contest.

The Pointers, though, held off the Eagles in the second game and were crowned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament champions and more importantly earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating UW-La Crosse 6-5 Sunday afternoon.
