Security company helps local schools tighten safety

A private security company has seen an increase in demand from north central Wisconsin school districts as they move to increase student safety in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., tragedy.

Ken Nerison, the general manager of Per Mar Security Services of Wausau, La Crosse and Green Bay, said the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut has spurred many schools across the area to beef up their security systems. Twenty-six people - 20 students and six adults - were shot and killed at Sandy Hook on Dec. 14.
