Rapids man gets year in jail for friend's shooting death (video)

WISCONSIN RAPIDS- The mother of a 31-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man killed in a 2011 shooting asked a Wood County judge Monday that the shooter not go to jail.

Despite the request, Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter sentenced Tyler C. Enkro, 23, of Grant to one year in jail and 10 years probation for homicide by intoxicated use of a firearm.

Pam Monfre, the mother of shooting victim Nick Hoffmann, told Potter that her son would not want Enkro, formerly of Grand Rapids, to go to jail. ...
