Library story time goes 'Wild'

The staff at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters will celebrate Children's Book Week with a special story time 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the library, 300 N. First St.

During "Wild for Books," staff will celebrate the 50th birthday of children's characters Amelia Bedelia, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Max and his "Wild Things." Children can listen to stories, do crafts and activities.

The event is free and open to the public.

Meanwhile, The Friends of the Marathon County Public Library will hold a book sale at the Wausau Headquarters through the weekend.

The Friends will sell used books, games, puzzles and other items. The sale will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Friends will have a special bag sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday when patrons can buy a bag and fill it for $6.

A special preview sale will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday for Friends of the Marathon County Public Library members only. Memberships can be purchased at the door.

Proceeds will benefit the Marathon County Public Library and its programming. For more information, call 715-261-7200.
