SCORE column: Using a collection agency for debts

In last week's column, a SCORE client had asked how she could collect on an unpaid bill. Several remedies were discussed including small claims court, circuit court and hiring an attorney. This week, the option of hiring a collection agency is considered.

Dennis Donohue, vice president and general manager of Associated Collectors, which has offices in Green Bay and Janesville, says collection agencies often have been unfairly portrayed as being overly aggressive.
