TWO RIVERS - At 11:19 a.m. May 7, 2013, the nuclear reaction, the fire, the heartbeat of the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant was shut down for the last time. What was originally Carl Giesler's vision and operational in 1973, KNPP provided for the families of the employees and contributed to the economies of the local communities. While it ran in spite of it all, in the end the might of the atom was no match for the will of the dollar. Thank you, Kewaunee, for 40 years of dependable and safe service.
