Ripon begins Village Green beautification project

Ripon Main Street, Inc. has begun the process of enhancing the Village Green in downtown Ripon with new park benches, flower planters, decorative lighting, and a host of other features.

"This project is quite possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a permanent fixture in the bright future of the Village Green," said Craig Tebon, Ripon's downtown manager.

Benefactors can show their support and regard for the Village Green by leaving their mark on history and sponsoring a beautification amenity, such as a park bench, water fountain, trash basket, streetlight, or flower planter. Benefactors can also have their name placed on a brick paver that will become part of a landscaped entrance.

The Ripon Rotary club recently provided a $2,000 grant to jumpstart the project which was used to install the foundation for a brick path at the entrance to the Village Green. Contractors laid the foundation for a 4 foot x 14 foot area for the installation of "Gift Bricks."Tebon indicated this is enough space to install up to 120 bricks. "Each 4 inch x 8 inch brick will be sold for $100. After shipping, handling and installation, we should have enough net profit to make additional improvements such as installing decorative wrought iron railing and landscaping," said Tebon.

Beautification amenities vary in price from $100 to $2,500, so no matter what someone's budget is, they can leave a lasting legacy. Also, because Ripon Main Street, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, all sponsorships are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Visit the downtown Ripon web site at www.downtownipon.com to download the commemorative brick form or contact the Ripon Main Street office at 920-748-7466 for additional information regarding the Village Green beautification project. Information and project updates are also available on the Ripon, Wisconsin Facebook page at www.facebook.com/riponwisconsin.
