Rep. Mary Czaja, R-Irma, knew her bill to legalize crossbows for all bowhunters during Wisconsin's archery deer season was a winner when her hunter constituents in Lincoln and Langlade counties consistently sighed the same three-word reaction:

"It's about time."

Roughly 40 years after the compound bow and its cams, cables and pulleys made archery easier and more accessible to the masses, Wisconsin finally seems poised to accept crossbows, too. ...
