Marian University expert will help with military study on suicide

Janet McCord hopes to de-escalate rising suicide rates in the military.

An associate professor of thanatology at Marian University's School of Nursing and Health Professions, McCord has been chosen to help with a national study aimed at understanding the reasons why more Marines are ending their lives through suicide.

She received training with the American Association of Suicidology to study the psychological aspect of suicide and will work as a field investigator to talk with families and friends of the deceased Marines. ...
