May 19, 1950 - Irwin School forms P.T.A.: The Irwin School Parent-Teacher association was formed here Thursday night at a meeting attended by more than 75 interested fathers and mothers. School officials, including Miss Susie Altmayer, principal, also participated in the organization of the group.
James F. McCormack was named president. Other officers are Mrs. A.S. Paynter, first vice president; Mrs. James Tobias, second vice president; Mrs. Gordon Whitenack, secretary and Thomas Cavil, treasurer.
The National congress of Parents and Teachers has a present membership of six million among its affiliates, Mrs. C.B. Kniskern, Green Bay area president, told the De Pere gathering. There are 74,731 persons actively engaged in the movement in Wisconsin, she revealed.
