All Max Frederick wanted was a chance to prove he can be counted on Saturday.

A junior right-hander, Frederick was handed the ball on May 12 with a chance to pitch the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point baseball team to the NCAA tournament.

Frederick never made it out of the fifth inning, surrendering a grand slam in the fifth inning of an eventual 6-5 win over UW-La Crosse that gave UWSP the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship. ...
