Reader question: When is Starbucks closing downtown?
It’s leaving 101 E. College Ave. in downtown Appleton. The staff will relocate to the new Starbucks branch opening Friday at 3314 W. College Ave. in Grand Chute, which shares a building with Orange Leaf, a frozen yogurt shop. It’s next door to Panera Bread.
The new Starbucks location has a “friends and family” preview Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that’s open to the public.
Meanwhile, the downtown corner spot where it has been for the last 10 years is for lease.
In related news: its neighbor, Orange Leaf, has been open for a month, but will have its official ribbon cutting Wednesday.
Jordy Nelson of the Green Bay Packers, an investor in the branch, will be there to greet customers starting at 6 p.m. The shop will be giving away Packers memorabilia signed by Nelson and another Packers investor, Mason Crosby, that day to celebrate its opening.
