Alleged beef stick theft turns into drug bust

A 35-year-old Wausau woman who allegedly tried to steal beef sticks from a grocery store early Sunday morning is instead facing drug charges.

Just after 1 a.m., an officer responded to Trig's on the city's west side after a store manager reported a woman had tried to steal several items from the store, Police Capt. Bryan Hilts said Monday.

The woman admitted to trying to steal several items - including a bottle of lotion, razor heads, two packages of beef sticks, scarves and small package of decorative flowers - and while she was removing them from her clothes, a small bag fell ...
