A D.C. Everest Senior High School physical education teacher won a regional teaching award that honors outstanding performance in engaging youths in physical activity.

Joanna Bailey, a physical education teacher at Everest for nine years, won the Midwest District High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year award April 24 at a national physical education conference in Charlotte, N.C.

Bailey said she makes it her daily goal in teaching to help students learn how fitness is linked with all aspects of their lives. ...
