Fox Valley group speaks out against Common Core State Standards

A group of Fox Valley residents are headed to Madison today to urge Wisconsin lawmakers to stop implementation of standards outlining what every U.S. student needs to learn to prepare for college or the workforce.

Ed Perkins, co-leader of the Tea Party group Fox Valley Initiative, said the 20-member delegation wants the Senate and Assembly Joint Education Committee to reject Common Core State Standards. The benchmarks in English and mathematics outline what K-12 students should know at each grade level and require students to apply what they've learned in the classroom.
