Mayor: Company in wings to bring $17M development

The Stevens Point City Council unanimously approved a plan Monday to create a new tax increment finance district, a deal expected to bring approximately $179 million in new development.

The new TIF district will be the ninth of its kind created in the city. It will be located in the newly annexed land on the east part of the city and is just less than 900 acres.

Mayor Andrew Halverson said there is a company interested in setting up shop the new park, but wouldn't give many details. ...
