Fort Howard Cemetery on Green Bay's west side seems to be a target for people stealing live flowers. This is the third year that the live flowers we put out on Mother's Day were stolen before Memorial Day. It is really sad to see that someone would steal from a gravesite. And just so it is known, this is theft. We attached the basket to the holder with plastic ties and they were cut to steal the basket.
Green Bay can put cameras all over the city but not to protect the resting place of our loved ones. You would think after three years of complaints the cemetery would get at least a couple trail cameras to see who is roving about after dark. Perpetual care should be more than grass cutting. These types of thieves are as low as I can imagine because they are stealing something that is more valuable than the $35 that the flowers cost. They are stealing a memorial to our loved ones.
If you put flowers out this week, check and if they go missing report it as I have for three years. Maybe someone will do something to stop this.
