Senate confirms Kiel native to Fla. court

Partisan issues delayed vote for nearly a year

The Senate on Monday unanimously confirmed Kiel native Sheri Polster Chappell, of Fort Myers, Fla., to serve as a U.S. district judge in Florida's Middle District almost a year after President Barack Obama first nominated her.

The vote to confirm Chappell, who has been a federal magistrate since 2003, was 90 to 0.

Chappell's nomination had been held up by partisan differences over other issues. ...
