Area children fitted for bicycle helmets: May 22: Center for Childhood Safety hosted an event Wednesday at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena giving out bicycle helmets to children and helping them get a proper fit.

A bike helmet may be too expensive for some children, but a local child safety organization is providing free helmets toa little more then 1,000 children in the area this week.

The helmets were provided by the Center for Childhood Safety as part of a program started by the N.E.W. Curative Rehabilitation Center, Inc., aimed at increasing the number of children wearing bicycle helmets.

Stephanie Umentum, of the N.E.W. Curative Rehabilitation Center, said she helped create the program and has volunteered at the event since its creation. ...
