Out of 84 applications for the latest opening at the Marshfield Police Department, Jason Foemmel, 33, a native son, quickly rose to the top of the candidate pool by achieving almost perfect scores on tests.

"When we got our chance to hire him, it felt like we were getting our first round draft choice," said Police Chief Gary Jepsen, adding that Foemmel has the high ethical and moral standards sought in officer candidates.
