Colby High School will celebrate its 126th commencement ceremony today, Friday, May 24. The festivities will be held in the high school gymnasium.

The class will graduate 66 students. The class motto is "Our lives are before us ... Our pasts are behind us ... But our memories are forever with us." The flower is a white rose tipped with green or gold.

Colby High School has named Nathaniel Underwood as the 2013 class valedictorian. Nathaniel is the son of LeRoy and Amy Underwood. He is graduating with a 3.99 GPA. Besides academics, Nathaniel is involved with many other school activities. He is president of Student Council, vice president of National Honor Society and is a member of Students against Destructive Decisions, Spanish Club and Senior High Band. Nathaniel has played varsity baseball, football and basketball. Nathaniel will attend University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall in pursuit of a degree in biomedical engineering.

Colby High School's class of 2013 salutatorian is Amanda Kaiser. She is the daughter of Marlin and Lorrie Kaiser. Amanda is graduating with a 3.96 GPA. Throughout high school, Amanda has been involved in many aspects of school and community. She is the president of Students against Destructive Decisions, secretary of Student Council and a member of National Honor Society and the Colby Choir Coalition. Amanda has also been a four-year varsity member of the cross-country and track teams where she earned All-Conference Honors and has advanced to the state competition in both sports. In the community, Amanda is the vice president of Cherokee Chums 4-H group. In the fall, Amanda will attend Winona State University in pursuit of a degree in nursing.

Honors, 3.500 and above: Neal Hogden - Douglas and Tracy Hogden; Elin Ahlgren - host parents Allen and Emma Zettler; Zachary Peissig - Gene and Joan Peissig; Samara Hull - Jerry and Verena Hull; Morgan Weiler - Scott and Dawn Weiler; Timothy Will - Dennis and Susan Will.
