10 YEARS AGO: Commencement exercises will be May 31 for the 2003 graduating class of Greenwood High School. Valedictorian is Eric Baker, son of Christopher and Luann Baker, and salutatorian is Colleen Sonnentag, daughter of Roger and Christine Sonnentag.

The Marshfield Police Department is among 300 law enforcements in Wisconsin keeping a close watch on seat belt violators in coming days. "We feel there is a need out there," said Marshfield Lt. Randy Laessig.

25 YEARS AGO: Piano students studying under David E. Zimmerman of Marshfield, recently presented their Junior Music Club Recital. Kassandra Lang, Shelly Kloehn and Linda Zittleman received their gold cups for points earned in the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs.

50 YEARS AGO: A weather balloon carrying a crew of four Navy men on a weather observation expedition, landed on the Gilbert Coyle farm, Granton, and interrupted the electric power supply to a section of the village. Vehicles following the course of the balloon arrived at the scene to transport men and equipment back to Minneapolis.

75 YEARS AGO: Diplomas for 21 students will be presented at the eighth-grade graduation exercises at St. John's Lutheran parochial school to be held at the church. Class speakers will be Lorraine Jenni and Delores Tock.
