On Saturday, May 25, starting at 1 p.m. you will find the parking lot of Fond du Lac High School filled with semi-trucks, volunteers and hopefully pallets of food. The Food for Freedom project team hopes to break the world record by collecting more than 500,000 pounds of food in a 24 hour period.
The local pantries in Winnebago County will receive a portion of the all food collected during that time period. Thank you to Badger Federal Services, Inc. for donating four semi-trucks to trans port the food donations from Fond du Lac to the Oshkosh Area Food Pantry located on the St. Vincent DePaul campus.
Area food pantries that have identified an interest in participating in the Food for Freedom drive will be working together to unload and sort through the many pallets of donations. Each pantry will be taking enough food to fill their shelves.
Thank you to St. Vincent DePaul for their generous donation of time, resources and space. Their assistance will be key to successfully unloading and sorting the food donations.
If you are interested in donating your time to the Food for Freedom event in Fond du Lac please log on to http://www.foodforfreedom.org. They are looking for volunteers in two hour shifts.
