Gas prices have skyrocketed across the Midwest, but local travelers might see relief at the pump heading into Memorial Day.

Statewide gas prices are averaging $3.93 a gallon, or 33 cents more than a month ago and 21 cents higher than last year, according to AAA. Nationally, gas prices are averaging $3.65 a gallon.

The wholesale price of gasoline has recently decreased, and motorists here might soon see those savings when they fill up for the holiday travel period that runs through Monday, AAA spokeswoman Pam Moen said. ...
