Softball: Bubble burst on Eagles' playoff run

Luxemburg-Casco broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the fourth inning and beat Southern Door, 8-1, Thursday in a Division 2 regional final high school softball game in Luxemburg.

The inning snowballed on the Eagles when they were unable to get a forceout on a close play at third base. The Spartans then drove in runs with back-to-back sacrifice flies to right field and followed with six straight hits to score five more runs.

"In hindsight, if we get that runner out at third base they might not have scored," said Eagles coach Pat Delcore. "But that's not the way it went. ...
