Summer is a season when we cram 12 months of outdoor activities into three months.

In order to get that much outdoor time, eating and drinking outside become a necessity.

So with that in mind, get out your calendar, pen, fork and can coolie and mark these food and adult beverage events.

Bay Beach BBQ Bash

11 a.m.-4 p.m., June 1, Bay Beach Amusement Park

Two competitions take place but anyone who's a fan of pulled pork or brisket wins. This is the second year of the event held near the Zippin Pippin. Plenty of other activities and food available. greenbaywi.gov/event/bay-beach-bbq-bash

Beyer Home Museum Pie and Ice Cream Social

Noon - 4 p.m., June 9, Beyer Home Museum/Annex, 917 Park Ave., Oconto

Nothing beats a really good homemade pie, especially the ala mode kind. Personally, I'll go out of my way for a good pie but even if you're partial to ice cream sans pie, you can have that too. You can donate a pie for the event or just eat. Elegant junk for sale as well as guided tours and music. Contact Sue Cross (920) 835-2088 about donating. www.ocontoctyhistsoc.org

Savour Green Bay

4-10 p.m., June 21 & 11 a.m.-9 p.m. June 22, Downtown Green Bay

For those foodies who enjoy cooking as much as eating, this may be the don't-miss event. There are culinary demonstrations, food and beer tasting as well as individual food and beverage items for sale ranging in price from $2-$10 each. www.mosaicartsinc.org/savour

Hops on the Hill

6-8:30 p.m., July 11, Heritage Hill, 2640 S. Webster Ave., Allouez

This is the sixth rendition of this event. This year 50 craft brews will be available for tasting along with food from 16 area restaurants. Oh, and music and an auction. Tickets $35 in advance, $45 at the door. www.heritagehillgb.org

Greater Green Bay Restaurant Week

July 11-18

This inaugural event features multi-course meals at several participating restaurants ranging from lunch specialty places to top-notch steak houses. Prices are set at $10, $20 or $30. www.gbrestaurantweek.com

Bikes & Bar-B-Q

July 19 and 20, Leicht Memorial Park

What goes better with hogs than hawgs? The second annual event that benefits Golden House is expanding with a VIP event July 19 where guests taste great barbecue and then learn the tricks of the trade from Chef Craig Bell of Big Hatt Gourmet. On Saturday there is a three-stop poker run for motorcycle enthusiasts, a barbecue competition and plenty of food to fill everyone's belly. If you think you have what it takes to be a judge or win the competition, visit the website for more information. www.bikes-n-bbq.com

Taste on Broadway

5-11 p.m., Aug. 1, Broadway, Downtown Green Bay

It's a Sweet 16 for this event featuring area chefs and restaurants competing for prizes such as 'Best Taste' and 'Best Plate', which means the real winners are the folks sampling the wide range of flavors. www.onbroadway.org/taste
