Over the past decade, Devil's Lake State Park ranger Jenny Hudson has seen campers' fondness for electricity grow stronger.

She has watched campers in rustic sites tap into unused outlets at electrified sites to charge their laptops. She has come upon cellphones left by campers to charge in the visitors center and bathrooms.

"Our electric sites are always the first to go," Hudson said. Though campers still pitch tents every day at rustic sites, "they're not nearly as popular as the electric sites." ...
