Although last weekend's Food for Freedom food drive fell well short of breaking the world record for most food collected in a 24-hour period, organizer Dan Loomans was pleased with the result.

"We were slower than we anticipated, but we raised a ton of food for people who really need it," the 17-year-old Fond du Lac High School junior said.

In fact, it was more like 65 tons. ...
