Memorial Day events today in Sheboygan County

Memorial Day events taking place today around Sheboygan County include:

? Sheboygan's annual Memorial Day parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at New York Avenue and travels up North Eighth Street to Superior Avenue, west to North Ninth Street and ending at Fountain Park, where the traditional Memorial Day program will take place.

? Names of 18 Hmong Special Guerilla Unit pilots will be added to the Lao, Hmong and American Veterans Memorial at Deland Park. The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch, a cultural show and guest speakers.

? AEL Post 386, Cascade American Legion, will hold a service at 10 a.m. at Cascade Lions' Clubhouse. Guest speaker is Jerry Hendrickson, Cascade Village Board trustee. A brat fry will follow. Event is sponsored by the Cascade Lions Club.

? Hingham's Memorial Day Parade will be held at 10:30 a.m., with lineup beginning at 10 a.m. at Hingham Hall. The parade will move to the Hingham Cemetery for a ceremony to honor veterans. A lunch will follow at Hingham Hall.

? A Memorial Day program in Kohler will begin at 11:45 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Bag pipers will lead participants up the Walk of Honor in the Garden of Valor. Master of ceremonies will be Mike Liebelt of the Retired Enlisted Association. Boy Scout Troop 801 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. VFW Post 9156 will do the honors of firing. Guest speaker will be Capt. Sean M. Murphy of the Wisconsin Army National Guard. A dove release by Wings of the Heart will conclude the program. The public is reminded to bring lawn chairs.

? The Howards Grove VFW Memorial Day services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Park with a parade at 10 a.m. In case of rain, the service will be held in the high school gym. A Lions club brat fry will follow at 11 a.m.

? The Village of Adell will hold a Memorial Day parade beginning at the ball park at 10 a.m. that will feature the Random Lake High School Marching Band. A program is set for 10:30 a.m. at the Adell Fire Departrment Hall. Guest speaker will be Army Sgt. Jason Geiser, who served in Afghanistan from Jan. 16, 2010, to Jan. 15, 2011. He is a 2003 alumnus of Random Lake High School. A brat fry, sponsored by Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and picnic will follow the parade until 1 p.m. in the Adell Village Park, rain or shine.

? Plymouth's annual Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. in downtown Plymouth. East Main Street, Caroline Street, East Mill Street and sections of North Street will be closed for the hour-long parade.
