Clippers prevail in lengthy regional final

The Sturgeon Bay High School girls soccer team withstood three long delays and a tougher-than-expected opponent to win a Division 3 regional championship Saturday afternoon.

In a game that lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes due to two stoppages for severe weather and another because of injury, the Clippers outlasted the Howards Grove Tigers, 2-1, in double overtime at Clark Field in Sturgeon Bay. The Clippers (15-1) now play at 5 p.m. Thursday at Ozaukee (18-1-1) in a sectional semifinal game.
