Ribbon cutting scheduled

LOYAL - A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at C&J Auto, 123 N. Main St., Loyal, followed by a Business After 5 social.

The grand opening celebration for the business will be all day Friday.

Colonial Center earns 5-star rating

COLBY - Colonial Center has received a Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This award is reflective of the ongoing, personalized care by Colonial Center clinical staff members. Staff members recently celebrated the award with an organizationwide celebration.

"Five-star status is an important reflection of the care we provide each resident. Through ongoing staff education, internal audits and customer satisfaction surveys, we are able to achieve a high level of service excellence," said Natalie Mosey, executive director of Colonial Center.

MMC to partner with EmCare

NEILLSVILLE - Memorial Medical Center has partnered with EmCare, the nation's leading provider of physician practice management services, effective Saturday. EmCare will work with MMC to manage physician staffing within the Emergency Department and for Hospital inpatient services.

EmCare is partnering with Memorial Medical Center to provide its Emergency Department with 24/7 physician coverage and hospital medicine coverage on the weekends or CompleteCare. CompleteCare is EmCare's proprietary staffing and patient care model that combines emergency medicine and hospital medicine services. This model utilizes the services of a single physician who manages both emergency department and inpatient services within appropriate volumes to ensure quality patient care.

EmCare will work to improve service by reducing patient wait times, improving patient experiences and enhancing operational efficiencies where deemed appropriate. MMC will continue as a Level III Trauma Center as it has in the past.

EmCare has become an industry leader during the past 40 years by providing implementation of results-driven patient satisfaction programs.

MHC earns Excellence Awards

MEDFORD - Patients have rated the quality of care provided at Memorial Health Center among the best in the nation, earning the health center several Excellence in Healthcare awards from Professional Research Consultants Inc.

PRC is a nationally known health care market research firm.

"It is the goal of everyone at Memorial Health Center to provide our patients with the most compassionate and highest quality care possible," said Gregg Olson, Memorial Health Center president/CEO. "We are honored that our patients recognize the excellent quality of our care as well as our commitment to continuous improvement."

Memorial Health Center won five awards for its 2012 successes.

The 5-Star Excellence Award honors went to:

? Inpatient Services, which include services and care for patients that require an overnight stay - or longer - at the hospital.

? Medical/Surgical Unit, the hospital unit caring for patients recovering from illness or surgery and those needing intensive monitoring or short-term observation.

? Kathy Hemer, MSN, FNP-C, family nurse practitioner at Memorial Health Center Clinics-Medford.

The 4-Star Excellence Award honors went to:

? Outpatient Services, which include services providing same-day care that does not require an overnight hospital stay.
