Gibraltar's better-than-expected high school baseball season came to an end two games short of the state tournament.

Laconia scored five runs in the third inning and ousted the Vikings, 8-2, Tuesday in a Division 3 sectional semifinal game in Ripon. The Vikings finished 12-6.

"I think we overachieved," said Vikings coach Jay Kita. "We did things that a lot of people didn't think we were going to do. We were co-champions of the Packerland Conference and we won the regional to get to this position. It was a great season." ...
