The Algoma 'Guins (1-0) opened their Shoreland League season on May 31 with a 7-6 extra-inning home victory over the Casco Athletics (2-1), last year's regular-season champion.

Craig Kirchman had a game-high three RBIs for Algoma. Colin Wendtland didn't get the win, but in nine innings of work he struck out nine Casco batters.

Shaun Corroy, Devin Kornowski, Trevor Kinnard, and Matt Jadin all had two hits each for the Athletics. ...
