Ellison Bay: Flags adorn highway through town

Ellison Bay Service Club members had their hands full May 23 as they worked to raise American flags along Wisconsin 42 to honor America's veterans on Memorial Day. Cold winds prevented them from completing the job that day.

Fortunately all 47 of them were raised before May 27. The flags will remain flying along Ellison Bay's main street to Grand View Park for Flag Day on June 14, Olde Ellison Bay Days June 28-29, and July 4 for Independence Day.

There are 47 flags because 2013 marks the 47th year of the annual Olde Ellison Bay Days festival. A new flag will be added every year until the popular ...
