A bill passed unanimously Wednesday in the state Assembly will extend the life of a Wausau riverfront redevelopment district and provide an additional $17 million for commercial space and parks.

The bill, authored by Republican state Sen. Jerry Petrowski and state representatives John Spiros, R-Marshfield, and Mandy Wright, D-Wausau, will assist the city of Wausau in planned development along the city's riverfront. The district stretches from Stewart Avenue to Bridge Street and from First Avenue on the west side of the river to Sixth Street on the east.
