Oshkosh Police issue dozens of seat belt citations, warnings

Oshkosh Police stopped 41 vehicles and issued more than 50 citations and warnings during a seat belt enforcement effort Wednesday.

Using grant funding from the state Bureau of Transportation Safety, five extra officers were deployed between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to focus on seat belt enforcement. Forty-one vehicles were stopped and officers issued 35 citations, including 28 for seat belt violations, one for a child restraint violation, three for speeding violations, two for operating a motor vehicle after revocation and one for a vehicle registration violation, Lt. Kevin Konrad said.

Nineteen warnings were also issued for various violations, Konrad said.
