Portage County offers many inexpensive family-friendly activities

Portage County may not be known for its miniature golf courses and roller skating facilities - staples of summer fun in some central Wisconsin communities - but that certainly doesn't mean there aren't plenty of inexpensive (and oftentimes free) events to keep your children entertained while school is out this summer.

"We are known more for our natural attractions," said Melissa Sabel, communications manager for the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
