The attorney for a Plainfield, Ill., man being tried in Door County for homicide has withdrawn his client's plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect as the case heads to trial.

A jury of 14 Wood County residents, including two alternates, was selected Friday in Wisconsin Rapids. The panel will be brought to Sturgeon Bay to hear the trial, which starts Monday before Door County Circuit Judge D. Todd Ehlers and is expected to last about a week.
