Thiry golf outing planned for June 29

2:30 PM, Jun. 13, 2013  |  Comments

The seventh annual Gary Thiry Memorial Golf Outing will be held June 29 at The Woods Golf Course, 530 Erie St., Green Bay.

The outing honors the late Gary Thiry, formerly of Luxemburg, who died in 2006 at the age of 33 from a heart attack. His family and friends have worked together to develop a project to keep Gary's memory alive.

Last year, the event raised more than $7,200. The proceeds went to seven individuals with cancer, a person dealing with brain surgery, an individual with a leg amputation, a child who needs a germ-free environment, and a child with heart problems.

The proceeds from this year's event will again be given directly to individuals in need of financial assistance. The cost is $75 for golf, dinner, and drinks; or $25 for dinner and drinks (must pre-register).

Schedule is as follows: 11-11:30 a.m.: check in/hole assignment; noon: golf begins (shotgun start), 18 holes of golf, four-person scramble; golf cart included; course events and games (longest putt, longest drive, etc.); 6 p.m.: social, free beer and soda after golfing; 7 p.m.: cook-out buffet dinner at The Woods Banquet Hall.

If you are interested in golfing or attending the dinner, contact Scott Fameree at fameree@hotmail.com or (920) 366-6233 or call Dorothy Thiry at (920) 845-2613.
