Mike Plaza clearly remembers the last time he talked to Forrest Goetsch.

Flash back to September 2009 at D.C. Everest Junior High. Plaza had just finished a long run near the building when he ran into Forrest and his mom. Forrest asked Plaza how his run went, and Plaza invited Forrest, an avid runner, to join him a week later.

The pair never got the chance to run together. Forrest, 14, died during warm-ups at a cross country practice shortly after they made plans. ...
