Mother bird persists despite human wishes

Earlier this spring, a robin decided to build her nest atop the flat ledge of the clothesline post in my backyard.

I like birds; however, this was the worst place she could choose as it was near where I hang clothes and I knew the mess we would have with her anticipated new family.

Also, years ago when we lived in the country, we experienced a robin's abode near the overhang of our house. The mess was unbelievable and unsightly. I knew what would be ahead if I allowed this nest building to happen again. Once the robin laid her eggs, I wouldn't have the heart to take the nest down. ...
