The Door County Board Emergency Services Committee decided Thursday to discuss buying a third new ambulance at its July meeting, while viewing the first of two $178,000 ambulances delivered earlier this month.

Although the first of the new trucks was placed in service last week, the second ambulance needs more pre-deployment work, according to county Emergency Services Director Eric Christensen.

The two vehicles were produced at the same time on the same assembly line, Christensen said. However, the second unit has a number of imperfections that need to be corrected. ...
