City mulls change to TIF District 6

City council will decide if adding Edgewater and Vetter properties will help

The Stevens Point City Council will decide Monday whether to use the third out of four amendments on Tax Incremental Finance District 6 to change the boundaries to include the Edgewater and Vetter properties.

The move is intended to increase property tax revenue in a district that is losing money annually, but there is concern the action won't be enough.

City Comptroller-Treasurer Corey Ladick said TIF 6, which was expected to make about $850,000 annually in increment, is only making $100,880 based off 2012 numbers. Including Edgewater would generate an estimated $36,000 more in tax ...
