Hello Waupun,

As a community, Waupun has been fortunate to have a hospital and health care facilities right here in our neighborhood. Now we have an opportunity to celebrate with Waupun Memorial Hospital as they host "Music in the Park," to celebrate several quality honors they have recently received.

This event, being held at Johnson's West End Park on Thursday, June 20 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. will be serving a free dinner for family and friends, as well as musical entertainment by "The Hits," who provide great music for all ages. There will be activities provided for the children as well. The dinner will be served by Agnesian HealthCare physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants that provide care in Waupun and our surrounding communities.

This is "A Celebration to Recognize Excellence," and here is why ? Waupun Memorial Hospital (WMH) has become the first health care provider in the region, and one of only two in Wisconsin to receive the prestigious "Pathway to Excellence" designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Waupun Memorial Hospital and identifies it as one of he best places to work.

Waupun Memorial Hospital has also earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for accreditation for health care quality and safety in hospitals. In addition, Waupun Memorial Hospital has been named for a second time to the "Top 100" list of rural hospitals around the country. To cap it all off, WMH has also been named by Professional Research Consultants as a 2013 4-Star Award Winner in inpatient services for overall quality of care. If I may say so myself, that is quite a list of recent accomplishments that repeatedly spell out patient quality, safety and great care right here at home.

Congratulations to every employee involved who enabled Waupun Memorial Hospital to receive these great honors. For more information on this event or the honors received you can call 926-4893.

In closing, I would like to recognize our Waupun firefighters, Fire Chief Jeff Berry, and police personal for the fantastic job they did with the recent fire at the Waupun Culvers restaurant. Our firefighters knocked down the fire quickly with minimal water damage done to the structure. Culvers employees did a great job getting everyone out of the building and out of harms way. Kudos to all of you ? the community looks forward to the re-opening of the facility real soon!

Until next week?

Mayor Jodi
