June 15, 1959 - J.V. Micksch, head of bakery, dies: Funeral services for James V. Micksch Sr., 91 president of the Bohemian Baking Co. Inc. for 58 years will be held Tuesday.

A memorial fund has been established. Honorary pallbearers will be A.A. Reimer, Max D. Murphy, W.C. Scherf, Richard Surplice, R.W. Smith and S.M. Greiling, all directors of the Wisconsin State Bank and active pallbearers will be members of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Mr. Micksch was born on May 13, 1868 in Bohemia and came to the United State at the age of 18 years, settling in Shawano. He worked in the logging camps of Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula and moved to Manitowoc in 1890. Mr. Micksch had learned the milling trade in Bohemia and worked for the Straubel-Ebeling Flour Mill until 1907 when he established the Bohemian Baking Co.

He was the oldest director of the Wisconsin State Bank, serving for 50 years, 14 years as president.
