Two Green Bay police officers were hospitalized briefly early Saturday morning after being injured while chasing a vehicle on suspicion of drunken driving.

Two squad cars crashed at Oneida and Reed streets on the city's west side while chasing a 33-year-old Howard man who tried to elude officers and exhibited dangerous driving behavior around 2:53 a.m., according to the Green Bay Police Department.

The chase started in the 800 block of Shawano Avenue on the city's west side and continued into Ashwaubenon before returning to Green Bay, where Green Bay police apprehended the driver.

The injured officers were taken to a local hospital, treated for their injuries, and released.

Police are seeking charges of operating while intoxicated, recklessly endangering safety, knowingly fleeing an officer, and resisting arrest. The investigation continues.
